Well, born in Owatonna, MN, I soon learned that Owatonna was not the center of the universe and set out in my 17th year of life to explore a little of Germany. During that and subsequent visits, I also got the opportunities to visit France, Switzerland, Sicily (Italy), the Czech Republic, Poland and through my church, a visit to Mexico. I just made it to Canada in the Fall of 2005, even though I lived less than 10 hours away for most of my life. Since exploring the world a little more, I've been a fan of learning German and French and am currently searching for a third language (Russian? Arabic?). Other interesting things about me include: I'm married to a wonderful young man ( ![[info]](http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif){kind=small} himay), love to read (esp. Paulo Coelho, John Steinbeck and Nick Bantock), ride bike, hike, cross-country ski, cuddle and watch movies, and sleep.Other things that some might find interesting but I don't really see as all-important...I have a BA from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN. I worked at Concordia Language Villages for 3 years on weekends and for 2 years during the summer. I formerly lived for a year in Germany as an English teaching assistant through Fulbright and the Pädagodischer Austausch Dienst. I currently teach German at a jr/sr high school in NY state. Being in Germany and visiting a former concentration camp instilled a vehement hatred of racism and other types of discrimination in me. If you happen to be someone who believes in these values, do not read or comment on my journal. I have no patience for you. If you try to claim some superiority because of your skin color, religion, socio-economic status or sexual preference, know that it won't work here. You bleed red blood, just like the rest of us.
